According to the Philadelphia Business Journal, the FDA just approved* a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory foam, Neosalus Cream. This cream/foam is available by prescription and works by repairing a compromised skin barrier and provides protection and moisturization of the skin.
The product sounds interesting, but I’m concerned with how this product will affect the body in the long term, or if it has any adverse side effects. Only time will tell, so this product is worth watching!

* Cream approved in April 2009

I’m 23 years old and recently diagnosed with eczema. I thought it was triggered by stress, but it has been a month now of inflamed itching and I’m starting to think this is a permanent condition. I was prescribed neosalus foam and used it for 2 weeks. It made my skin a little dry and taut, but overall I thought it was more effective than some of the other cortisone-based creams I had tried. It did not, however, cure my eczema – but at that point, I was already stuck in the itch-stratch-itch cycle which irritates the skin faster than the cream can heal it. No visible side effects, and didn’t make my skin thinner like some other creams. Definitely worth a shot.
